“The month of ramadaan in which was revealed the Qur'aan, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion.." (Soorah Al-Baqarah: 185)
Allaah, The Exalted, has bestowed on Mankind a gift, Ramadan, a time for us to contemplate on Allaah's Religion and for seeking forgiveness. Ramadan is a time for us to attain Taqwa of Allaah, and to direct our Nafs to increase in Allaah's worship, when it is inclined to evil. Allaah says in His Book,
“O you who believe! Observing As-Saum is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqoon.” (Soorah Al-Baqarah: 183)
The Salaf deeply considered the approach of Ramadan and then Ramadan itself. They would constantly supplicate to Allaah, to grant them life, so when Ramadan does come they are able to increase in their worship!
Thats why its important for us to remind each other on Ramadan, its importance and virtues and to prepare ourselves for the Blessed Month.
I ask all of you, my brothers and sisters, to remember Ramadan and to understand its importance, just like how our Salaf considered it a vital part of their lives. As it occurs in the hadeeth, Jibreel cursed the one who, when Ramdan came, did not benefit from it (i.e seek forgiveness and be forgiven). To this The Messenger (sallahu alayhi wa salam) said "Ameen".
Let us increase in our knowledge of Ramadan and increase in Eemaan through reciting the Quran, reading beneficial articles and engaging in activities that will help make our dawa for the call more successful Inshallah. Encouraging each other upon the Haqq is one of the Four Characteristics Allaah, The Exalted, praised, as He said,
"By Time! Mankind is in loss. Except those who believe, and do righteous deeds, encourage each other upon The Truth and encourage each other upon patience" (Soorah Asr)
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: Allah's Apostle was the most generous of all the people, and he used to reach the peak in generosity in the month of Ramadan when Gabriel met him. Gabriel used to meet him every night of Ramadan to teach him the Qur'an. Allah's Apostle was the most generous person, even more generous than the strong uncontrollable wind (in readiness and haste to do charitable deeds). Sahih Bukhari Hadith 1.5
